NZ has clean air (top 7 countries) but no NZ city in 2024 met new WHO guidelines. All scored more than PM 2.5 and NZ average was 4.4. Good result but higher than Zurich, Perth, Hobart etc. That said Wellington should have made it on the top 25 list for sure.

Some places are very clean – gated communities where there is round-the-clock upkeep using vacuum machinery that don’t blow the air around. But the rest of the city can be very dusty. Less busy areas of the state might be wonderfully pristine but cities that are crowded with vehicles are a different story. To add to the already serious vehicular pollution, we have the notorious dust storm every now and again when the red dust from the desert center blows across a vast region, clothing entire states in a fine cloud that takes several days to settle. So, one can imagine the state of the hellishly crowded third world which can often be one big, open latrine choked with dust, including heavy fecal particulates in the bone-dry summer and an open sewage during floods.
This is what happens when humans procreate without limit, like some religions mandate their followers to do, for purposes of political domination, in addition to tactics like terrorism.

You’re right! We’ve updated it to clarify Estonia is not a nordic country – that doesn’t affect Estonia as being one of the least polluted countries in the world. Tallinn air quality really is awesome!

It is seen as normal and it’s quite embarrassing that Europe then has the gall to chide other regions for their air pollution.
